Agenda for the next group meeting

Past agendas

11Sep07

  1. ? Sebastien on Hula groupware project
    • Hula does not seem to be suitable for a productive environment (too beta)
  2. New Index page for the Wiki
    • Everyone happy and should tab it on his Wiki :)

  3. Michael/Mathias on proposition for /public/Papers folder

    • See Wikipage on examples how to use the full-text index of /public/Papers.

    • The index is automagically recreated every night; it is about 76MB for >2GB of PDF files indexed

  4. Michael/Mathias on version control with svn and installing graphic tool for it RapidSvn

    • SVN installed on the machines; see Wikipage for details and examples on usage

    • RapidSvn has lots of dependencies to newer versions of libraries and will hopefully be available on the desktops once the CentOS upgrade is completed by Mathias

  5. Benno: Journal Club: topics, champions, and schedule
    • Decided to go for Yeast Biology as the next major focus topic. Benno created Wikipage with further information.

    • Ghislain proposed Data Integration as possible topic

    • We have to clean up the topic proposal page
  6. Benno: RIP: schedule
    • Scheduled the next RIP speakers; can be found in group calendar
  7. Benno: Invite Genomes 2008 computational speakers for technical talks (Stelling, Bork, Bairoch, ...?)

    • Everyone of us should look at the list of speakers and make suggestions for candidates to invite

10Jul07 afternoon

  1. Benno: Announce a few new Wiki pages. Group library page, Vacation page, Group meetings agenda page

    • A few of us will come up with a new index page to better structure our Wiki content.
  2. Benno: Present briefly open mindmapping softwares: MindMeister, Mindomo

  3. Benno: Paper filenames in /Public/Papers. I am starting to see duplicate files for the same paper. Question: Should we standardize? How?

    • We don't need standardization, except that the filename begins with the first author's last name. Each of us will dump their paper folder into /Public/Papers/ in regular intervals, every other month or so.
  4. Michael: Present Jabref: A Java-based, open-source reference manager
